Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Jeff Beck, Ted Nugent)
and Michael Angelo Batio (Holland, Nitro) rocked out
in front of Maryland’s premier metal guitar and drum seller.
In the world of drumming Carmine Appice is an undisputed legend.
Known for his “heavy drumming” style, Appice has a well-deserved
respect among musicians and artists of all ages. Working with acts
such as Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart, Paul Stanley,
KGB, Ted Nugent, Pink Floyd, and Ozzy Osbourne, Appice’s style stands
up to the test of time. He is also a drum teacher, creating the
Realistic Rock Drum Method (1972), a best-selling drum book, making
him a perfect candidate for the BeatStreet Music drum clinic. His
book has been used for decades to teach people basic rock rhythms and
polyrhythms, linear rudiments and groupings, shuffle rhythms, hi-hat
and double bass drum exercises.
Alongside Carmine is the amazing shredder Michael Angelo Batio
(Holland, The Michael Batio Band, Nitro), whose live performances with
multiple guitars and prolific session work make him one of the most
interesting guitar players alive. He was named “No. 1 Shredder of All
Time” by Guitar One Magazine in 2003, and has numerous other awards
and recognitions under his belt.
Carmine and Michael Angelo are endorsers of Ddrum Percussion and Dean
Guitars, both subsidiaries of Armadillo Enterprises in Tampa, Florida.
Carmine Appice’s signature drum kit is now shipping from Ddrum, a
modern remake of the red sparkle kit which he played on the Ed
Sullivan show in 1967 with Vanilla Fudge. Michael Angelo Batio has 3
signature guitars available—the MAB 1 Armorflame, the MAB 1 Lazer, and
the MAB 2 Aviator, all featuring triple pickups with 5-way switches
for a variety of sounds.
Along
with the clinic there were raffles for various prizes, a special
sale on select Ddrum and Dean products, and GIVEAWAYS throughout the day.
